Behind the scenes at PARC: 2025 a year of improvements

2025 was a significant year for our Asset and Facilities Team. Working in close partnership with Frankston City Council, we delivered a wide range of upgrades and maintenance works across the Centre, all focused on improving safety, reliability and the everyday experience for our members and the community.

Much of this work happens quietly in the background, but its impact is felt every day. In recognition of this consistent commitment to quality and care, PARC was named Facility of the Year Large at the Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV) Excellence Awards in June – a reflection of the standards our team works to, day in and day out.

This year, our Asset and Facilities team completed 1,238 planned and reactive maintenance and upgrade projects. That’s over 3 bits of work per day. We also and had 2,145 contractors through our doors, helping us to deliver these improvements.

Here are some of our major asset improvement works of 2025:

Tiling Upgrade Project

This year we made a huge undertaking and completed a tiling replacement project within our Centre, to ensure the life of the building remains fit-for-purpose and safe for the community. The areas that were restored included:

  • The Main Female and Male Downstairs change rooms
  • The Upstairs Female and Male change rooms
  • Communal shower
  • Warm Water Pool Hall entrance
  • Warm Water Pool Hall Disability change rooms
  • Warm Water Pool Hall change rooms
  • Main 50m Pool

This project also extended to the refurbishment of our Sauna, which was retiled, and re-panelled.

New Boiler

Earlier this year, following an unexpected fault, a new boiler unit was installed in just 12 days! Our incredible team worked around the clock to get it done, ensuring reliable water temperatures across our pools and showers and further uninterrupted operations for members.

Water Slide & Tower refurbishment project

As part of our ongoing dedication to maintaining high-safety standards, we completed important structural works on both of our Raft Waterslides. This project included the recaulking of the slides, replacement of both conveyor belts, corrosion prevention works on the slides’ structure, slide tower treatment works, slide fibreglass refurbishment and the conveyor belt shade replacement.

Instillation of Lynxight drowning prevention technology

This year we implemented a new AI-powered, advanced pool monitoring drowning detection system, to further strengthen water safety within our Centre.

This innovative drowning prevention system is designed to work alongside our lifeguards, monitoring our Main 50m pool, Leisure Pool and Warm Water Pool through CCTV cameras and enabling our lifeguards to respond up to six times faster to potential emergencies.

Our lifeguards are now equipped with smartwatches that are linked to Lynxight’s alert platform, delivering real-time notifications, and helping them respond quickly and decisively in critical moments.

PARC Reformer Pilates Studio opening

One of our most exciting projects this year was the opening of our Reformer Pilates Studio. This dedicated, contemporary Reformer Pilates studio, offers virtual, on demand and instructor led classes. The feedback on this new space has been overwhelmingly positive, and we love seeing members enjoy this boutique-style accessible space.

Upgrades to heating and cooling through the Centre (HVAC Project)

Most recently, we completed extensive upgrades to our air circulation and climate control systems across the building, including the replacement of our rooftop chiller unit, to ensure better air quality, improved comfort, and long-term reliability throughout our facility.

Thanks for your patience

From the whole team at PARC, we would like to extend a massive thank you to you, our fantastic members and patrons, for your ongoing patience and support throughout these upgrades. We know these works have come with disruptions, so we really appreciate you for bearing with us throughout. Reinvesting in the safety, and longevity of the building and its facilities for our members and community, is a huge priority for us, and we strive to make everyone’s experience at PARC, a positive one.

We hope that you enjoy the improvements made and look forward to another year together at PARC!

Have you heard of Incidental Exercise? 🧹🚶‍♀️

Incidental exercise is physical activity that occurs naturally as part of your daily routine! It’s the small bursts of activity you accumulate throughout the day, such as carrying in the groceries, or playing with the kids, that helps you achieve your 30-20-2.

Some examples of Incidental Exercise are:
- Doing housework like vacuuming, mopping, or gardening
- Walking up stairs instead of taking elevator or escalator
- Parking further away from your destination to get your steps up
- Walking during lunch breaks, or having a standing meeting

Remember, all movement counts! 🌟

For more information about 30-20-2, or helpful resources and workouts to get you moving, head to our Digital Hub.

Help us ensure PARC is a safe venue for the whole community to enjoy 🏊

At PARC, we participate in the statewide Watch Around Water program. Watch Around Water is an education and public awareness-raising program that defines the minimum supervision requirements for children in a pool setting.

When visiting PARC, your child will be given a coloured wristband, based on their age. These wristbands help our lifeguards identify the level of supervison required for your child, and support a safe aquatic environment for everyone.
