Future You: Finding your focus words for the Future You!

We’re all trying to recalibrate our lives following the upheaval of the last few years and setting a positive mindset to look forward and think about your Future You is a healthy approach. Your Future You is the person you want to be, that you want to work towards.

Rather that setting resolutions for 2023, that can be arbitrary measures of success, at PARC we want you to think about what you want to feel like in the next six months. We recommend having a few focus words that can set a future intention and drive your motivation to success.

So, think about what your focus words could be that will help keep you inspired to become the best version of yourself – your Future You! These might include;

  • CALM – bringing more zen and peace into your life
  • STRONG – focusing on your strength physically and mentally
  • BALANCED – ensuring there is a good mix of energy to keep you balanced
  • EMPOWERED – building your power back
  • CONTENT – releasing tension to find contentment
  • RESILIENT – learning how to accept challenges and move forward

Once you have your focus words, write them down, tell a friend or family member or even stick them up around the house to help keep you on the right path.

Throughout February we’ll be providing some advice on a few of these focus words to help you put them into practice and achieve your intention!

Plus, if you want some more accountability at PARC we’re supporting our members by asking them to write a letter to your Future Self that includes these focus words and we will then post to you in the future!

Write a letter to Future You

Write a letter to your future self, and PARC will post it to you in the future – to see how you are tracking against your health goals.By writing this letter and visualising your Future You throughout the year, it will keep you motivated and accountable! Plus, when the letter arrives in the mail, you can see how you tracked against your health goals.

Let’s kick-start 2023 with a focus on your health and wellbeing. We’re here to help! Enquire now to join PARC.

Unplug24
Join us in going off social media for a day on 24 October.

Next Friday, on Friday 24 October, we are joining Unplug24, a 24-hour break from social media in solidarity with SmackTalk – an organisation founded by local Wayne Holdsworth to honour his son, Mac, and raise awareness around suicide prevention.

Unplug24 encourages us to step away from social media and reconnect offline to:
🔌 Protect mental health
🔌 Raise awareness to prevent suicide
🔌 Support vital education and awareness programs

Last year, more than 134,000 people took part, proving that sometimes the most powerful connection is offline. This year, SmackTalk is aiming to reach over a million participants in Australia and around the world.

Let’s join together and unplug from all social media for the day – at work and at home – to show our support for this important cause.

Restart a Heart Day at PARC this Saturday ❤️💙

Join us this weekend, on Saturday 18 October, for Restart a Heart Day, a vital community event that raises awareness about cardiac arrest and empowers people with lifesaving CPR skills.

Hosted by Monash University Paramedicine, this educational pop up in PARC's foyer will help build a safer, more prepared community.

Did you know that only 1 in 10 people survive a cardiac arrest? Most cardiac arrests happen in the home, so learning how to act fast could save the life of someone you love. Restart a Heart day will teach you how to respond in just three simple steps: CALL, PUSH, SHOCK.

Drop by PARC on Saturday morning between 9am – 12pm to learn from paramedics and paramedic students, who will be on hand to guide you through these critical steps and boost your confidence in delivering CPR.

Every minute counts when restarting a heart – let’s work together to improve survival rates!
