Fully Subsidised Swim Programs – Pre-Teen & Teen

Fully Subsidised Swim Programs – Learn Vital Water Safety Skills

Can your child save themselves in the water? According to Royal Life Saving Australia, 84% of Australian Year 10 students can’t. Does your child meet the swimming benchmarks?

From Primary to High school, there is a generational decline in swimming skill and it’s endangering young lives. According to the Royal Life Saving Australia’s 2025 Report on Children’s Swimming & Water Safety Skills, many school-aged children are still struggling to meet the essential swimming benchmark, with 48% of Australian Pre-teens (10 – 12 year old) lacking the ability to swim 50m or tread water for 2 minutes.

Drowning is preventable, make sure your child is safer in and around water. Join our Can Swim Program this August & September. The fully subsidised swim program for pre-teens and teens is the perfect opportunity for young people to build confidence in the water and develop essential life-saving skills.

Have you heard of Incidental Exercise? 🧹🚶‍♀️

Incidental exercise is physical activity that occurs naturally as part of your daily routine! It’s the small bursts of activity you accumulate throughout the day, such as carrying in the groceries, or playing with the kids, that helps you achieve your 30-20-2.

Some examples of Incidental Exercise are:
- Doing housework like vacuuming, mopping, or gardening
- Walking up stairs instead of taking elevator or escalator
- Parking further away from your destination to get your steps up
- Walking during lunch breaks, or having a standing meeting

Remember, all movement counts! 🌟

For more information about 30-20-2, or helpful resources and workouts to get you moving, head to our Digital Hub.

Help us ensure PARC is a safe venue for the whole community to enjoy 🏊

At PARC, we participate in the statewide Watch Around Water program. Watch Around Water is an education and public awareness-raising program that defines the minimum supervision requirements for children in a pool setting.

When visiting PARC, your child will be given a coloured wristband, based on their age. These wristbands help our lifeguards identify the level of supervison required for your child, and support a safe aquatic environment for everyone.

Did you know that our vision is that 'Every Child In Frankston Can Swim'? 🌳👶

The Rotary Peninsula 2.0's Birth Tree is one way that's helping us to achieve this vision.

By joining this year’s Birth Tree, you will receive a timeless tribute of your loved one in the form of a tree and plaque. Equally importantly, $45 of every contribution goes straight back to the community to help more children build confidence in the water, with free infant swimming lessons through the Can Swim initiative. 🏊
