Enrol in swimming lessons for Term 1

Make water safety a priority this summer

Summer is here, bringing more time spent at beaches, pools and local waterways. With so many opportunities to be in and around water, there’s never been a more important time to ensure your child has the skills and confidence to swim safely.

Swimming isn’t just an activity – it’s a life skill. Term 1 is the perfect time to enrol in a PARC Swim membership and set your child (or yourself) up for a safer summer and beyond.

Why swimming skills matter
Living in Frankston, the beautiful coast is a part of our lives. However, drowning remains a serious risk in Australia, and recent data shows why swimming lessons are more important than ever:

  • Drownings are on the rise: 357 lives were lost to drowning in Australia in the last 12 months. This is the highest toll in over two decades. 52 drownings occurred in Victoria the last 12 months.
  • Coastal areas pose higher risk: 43% of drowning deaths happened in coastal areas.
  • Drowning risk skyrockets in teens: Drowning risk jumps 1300% between ages 10 and 20, with over 50% of 10-year-olds and 40% of 15-year-olds unable to swim 50 metres.

Learning to swim early – and continuing to build skills as children grow – is one of the most effective ways to reduce these risks.
