PARC Achieves Platinum Pool Status Again

Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre Receives Platinum Pool Award

We are incredibly proud to announce that PARC has achieved Platinum Pool Status with Life Saving Victoria for another year running.

This annual assessment demonstrates our commitment to the Platinum Pool Program, which recognises aquatic facilities that meet the highest standards in aquatic safety and risk management. Participation in the Platinum Pool Program is a mark of excellence within our industry, with only 48 Victorian pools currently holding the accreditation.

We received an outstanding Compliance Score of 100% and a Safety Score of 98.68%. These assessments have recognised our high standards, where we are performing above the industry benchmark.

To receive this award PARC had to follow industry leading Pool Safety Assessment, a six-monthly assessment on implementation, Mystery Guest Visits and adherence to the best practice ‘Watch Around Water’ child supervision program. The accreditation is valid for twelve months.

PARC’s Operations Coordinator, Gaston Freddi reflected on this achievement, stating that being awarded the Platinum Pool status is a testament to the strong commitment the Aquatic Operations and Lifeguard team show towards safety, professionalism and excellence every single day.

“These exceptional results reflect the dedication of every staff member who plays a part in creating a safe and welcoming environment for our community. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and will continue to uphold the highest standards in aquatic safety.”

Pleasingly, our seasonal facility, Pines Forest Aquatic Centre, was awarded a Gold endorsement on the Victorian Public Pools Register, recognising its strong safety systems and risk management practices. PINES achieved a 100% compliance score, the highest possible rating, reflecting an exceptionally high standard of aquatic safety under Life Saving Victoria’s rigorous assessment framework.

The Gold endorsement places PINES among facilities operating at the highest safety standards in the industry.

PINES Centre Leader, Chiara McAuley commented on this historic achievement, stating that the result is a reflection of the consistency and strong safety culture the PINES team brings every day.

“Achieving Gold endorsement and a 100% compliance score for the first time in PINES history is something to be proud of. For a 50-year old outdoor facility to perform at this high level is a testament to the commitment of the staff, and the high standards we continue to set for our community.”

Achieving these scores reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and demonstrates the strength of the Peninsula Leisure safety culture, supervision practices.

A huge congratulations to our incredible Operations and Lifeguard teams who work hard, year-round to provide our members with a safer experience at both PARC and PINES.

Have you heard of Incidental Exercise? 🧹🚶‍♀️

Incidental exercise is physical activity that occurs naturally as part of your daily routine! It’s the small bursts of activity you accumulate throughout the day, such as carrying in the groceries, or playing with the kids, that helps you achieve your 30-20-2.

Some examples of Incidental Exercise are:
- Doing housework like vacuuming, mopping, or gardening
- Walking up stairs instead of taking elevator or escalator
- Parking further away from your destination to get your steps up
- Walking during lunch breaks, or having a standing meeting

Remember, all movement counts! 🌟

For more information about 30-20-2, or helpful resources and workouts to get you moving, head to our Digital Hub.

Help us ensure PARC is a safe venue for the whole community to enjoy 🏊

At PARC, we participate in the statewide Watch Around Water program. Watch Around Water is an education and public awareness-raising program that defines the minimum supervision requirements for children in a pool setting.

When visiting PARC, your child will be given a coloured wristband, based on their age. These wristbands help our lifeguards identify the level of supervison required for your child, and support a safe aquatic environment for everyone.
