Join the PARC be your own Olympian and Paralympian Challenge

Monday 29 July – Sunday 11 August
As our inspirational Aussies go for gold in Paris, challenge yourself with our very own games themed challenges so you can get your competitive spirit on!

Everyone can get involved! With challenges in basketball, cycling, rowing, swimming, and even high jump (vertical leaping), there’s something for everyone, including exercises that are friendly for all fitness levels and abilities.

Each sporting challenge will have three separate heats so you can track your progress and push yourself to get your best possible result.

Challenge dates: Monday 29 July – Sunday 11 August

How it works: Simply collect a challenge card from reception or upstairs at the gym desk, choose your activity, and grab one of our friendly gym staff to track your results! There are three heats (attempts) to complete for each exercise and you can do all the challenges or pick your favorites.

Submit your card with a completed challenge and you will go into the draw to win a PARC prize pack.

Want to know more about how our exercises will work? Then read on below:

Basketball:
To celebrate one of the Olympics’ most highly watched sports, we have set up a mini basketball ring so you can test your skills. To make it even better, there’s enough space for two people to play at the same time. Bring your friend a challenge them!

Our friendly gym team will have the basketballs – see them to get set up for a game. They’ll time set the timer for one minute, so shoot as many baskets as you can in that time. Can you beat 28 baskets?

Rowing:
How fast can you row 1000 metres? Come see one of our friendly Gym Team who will set you up with a 1,000 metre challenge on our TechnoGym AquaFeel rowers.

Alternatively jump straight onto the AquaFeel rower and start rowing until you hit 1,000 metres.

Vertical Jump:
Our gym team have set up a special vertical jump marker so you can test how high you can jump. Grab one of our friendly gym staff so they can track your height and reset the jump marker for you. The perfect test for aspiring, current or retired athletes. Try to beat your best!

Swimming:
How fast can you swim or walk 100 metres in our pool?

If you are swimming, that will be either 4 laps in our 25 metre pool or 2 laps in our 50 metre pool.  For walking, please use our warm water pool and walk the length of the pool 6 times.

You can time yourself by using a watch, our pool hall clocks, or bringing a friend so you can time each other.

Cycling:
Participate in one of our cycling classes and see how many kilometres you can cycle. Track your total distance via the PARCFit App. To track your distances, scan your band on to one of our bikes before class, or use the QR code in the app.

Don’t have the PARCFit app? Follow the steps below or see one of our friendly gym team.

Note: Alternatively you can track the kilometre distance on the bike manually and write down your total distance after a class.

Our challenge kicks off on Monday 29 July so be sure to grab your card, channel your Olympian and Paralympian spirit and go for gold!
