Happy International Yoga Day!

✨Happy International Yoga Day!🧘‍♀️✨

To celebrate the day and promote some tranquility and zen in our Centre we interviewed one of our fellow yoga instructors Kate.

What do you love about yoga?

Well for me I really enjoy the way that I fell after a yoga class, it really can create that sense of peace and stillness in the mind and body. It really helps me with feeling peaceful and feeling length and flexibility within the body. To me it’s all about the mind and body connection, feeling in tune with myself and the world around me.

Why should people incorporate yoga into their exercise routine?

Yoga is fantastic for increasing both your flexibility and strength, especially through your core. Yoga is also all about learning lessons on the mat and taking them into your life. Whether that’s lessons in mindfulness, meditation or connection of body and mind; it’s all practical teachings.

How long have you been practicing?

I’ve been doing yoga for a long time, I did my first class when I was 18 but I only really started to practice regularly after the birth of my children. Yoga really helped me with finding peace, me-time and the sense of stillness I really needed post-natal. Since then I’ve been teaching for about 12 years.

What’s your favourite type of yoga class?

It’s hard to say really, personally I love both Vinyasa and Yin yoga. It’s great to have balance in your practice, through Vinyasa in the morning I feel energised and ready for the day whereas I love Yin yoga in the evening. Yin yoga is fantastic for slowing down combining mediation with breath-work and deep slow movements.

It was a lovely chat with Kate and great to hear about her love for yoga. On this international yoga day we encourage everyone to focus on some simple yoga principles like balance and mindfulness. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or just a beginner, embrace the practice and give yourself some time to relax, unwind and create that mind-body connection you deserve.
