You’re invited: Let’s Move Launch Party, 16 March 5.00pm

Monday 16 March, in Centre, 5.00pm – 8.00pm.

Come on down to PARC on Monday 16 March for our famous Let’s Move Launch Party! Our Launch Party kicks off our month long ‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ campaign, focused on fighting obesity and change sedentary lifestyles.

This year our Launch Party will be bigger and better. We’ll have local suppliers showcasing their healthy eating options, Spin the Wheel Spot Prizes are back, and our local DJ and trainer Rangi will be on the tables playing beats! Come on down, learn how to donate your MOVES, and get involved in loads of fun, free activities. You don’t want to miss this one.

What is Let’s Move?
Each year Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) commits to a worldwide campaign called Let’s Move for a Better World, running throughout March and April. This campaign is a global campaign to help fight obesity and change sedentary lifestyles.

The goal is to encourage the Frankston community to MOVE, by coming to PARC and “donating” their physical activity (“MOVES”). Each MOVE goes towards a grand prize of Gym Equipment, that we then donate to a local school or community group. In previous years we have hit 3 Million MOVES and donated close to $40,000 worth of Gym Equipment to Frankston High School and McClelland College through this fantastic initiative.

How do I donate moves?
1. Download the PARC Fit App from the App store or goggle play (type in PARC Fit)
2. Once you have downloaded the PARC Fit App, go to the challenge tile and join the Let’s Move for a Better World 2020
3. From 16 March – 4 April, every time you are on the cardio equipment at PARC, donate your MOVES!
4. If you get stuck, please see any of our friendly trainers on the Gym floor.

Join the challenge now for your change to WIN a heart rate monitor
If you download the PARC Fit App and join our Let’s Move Challenge before the Let’s Move Launch Party on Monday 16 March, you go into the draw to WIN a HEART RATE MONITOR valued at $180. The winner will be announced at the Launch Party!

Have you heard of Habit Stacking? 🤔

It's a great way to add movement into your day by pairing small exercises with habits you already do - helping you be active and achieve 30-20-2, even when life is busy!

You can incorporate simple exercises into your daily task, such as:
- Squats while the kettle boils - turn waiting time into movement time.
- Calf raises while brushing your teeth - two minutes of strength, twice a day.
- Lunges down the hallway - every trip becomes a mini workout.
- Marching on the spot while folding laundry- complete some of your vigorous or moderate exercise every trip.
- Glute squeezes while sitting at your desk - perfect for busy workdays.

Remember, all movement counts 🙌

For more information about 30-20-2, or helpful resources and workouts to get you moving, head to our Digital Hub.

A feel good Friday post for you... Nic kicks two goals, in one! 🏉

Nicole, one of our long term PARC Team members, achieved a life-long dream last weekend.

Nic has always wanted to play football, and last week, she not only achieved that dream, but kicked her first goal at her very first game! What made it even more special was who she shared it with. Her daughter Bella was her teammate on the field (you might recognise Bella from the PARC Cafe!), her son Billy was the proud goal umpire🌟

Nic is an amazing part of Team PARC, and an example that shows it doesn’t matter how old you are to start something new. If you have a dream or goal that you want to achieve, go for it, we are here to support you! Congrats Nic! 🩵
