A lift for inclusion: New accessibility hoist installed at Pines Forest Aquatic Centre

At Pines Forest Aquatic Centre, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone in our community is at the heart of what we do. We’re proud to share that a new accessibility pool hoist has now been installed, making it easier for more people to safely access the water and enjoy everything the facility has to offer.

This important upgrade has been made possible through a wonderful partnership between Rotary Peninsula 2.0 and Peninsula Leisure, with the support of Frankston City Council, demonstrating the power of community collaboration and shared vision.

A community effort

The new hoist was funded through a shared investment. Rotary Peninsula 2.0 generously contributed a portion of the funds they raised through community fundraising effort Duck Derby as part of the Waterfront Festival, specifically directing those funds toward improving accessibility at Pines.

Peninsula Leisure contributed additional funding to complete the project, ensuring the new hoist could be delivered and installed for the community.

Improving access for everyone

At Pines Forest Aquatic Centre, accessibility has always been a priority. With initiatives like our Quiet Hour swims, which provide a calmer environment for people with sensory sensitivities, we strive to make the pool welcoming for everyone.

The installation of the new accessibility hoist builds on these efforts, playing a vital role in enabling people with mobility challenges to safely enter and exit the pool. For many individuals and families, equipment like this can make the difference between being able to participate in aquatic activities or missing out.

With the hoist now in place, Pines Forest Aquatic Centre can continue to support inclusive recreation – helping more people enjoy swimming, rehabilitation, exercise, and social connection in the water.

Thank you to our partners

We are incredibly grateful to Rotary Peninsula 2.0 for their commitment to the community and for choosing to invest their fundraising efforts into improving accessibility at Pines. Their contribution reflects Rotary’s ongoing dedication to projects that create meaningful local impact.

We also thank our shareholder Frankston City Council for their ongoing support of all things Pines Pool!

Partnerships like this are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when community organisations come together with a shared goal – ensuring our facilities remain welcoming and accessible for everyone. We look forward to seeing many more people enjoy the benefits of the pool at Pines Forest Aquatic Centre thanks to this fantastic new addition.
