Interview with Women’s Footballer Jessica Baguley

Meet Women’s Footballer and PARC employee Jessica Baguley

1. Your thoughts on women in football?

I absolutely love women’s football! It’s incredible, the physicality, the endurance and the mateship that’s involved in women’s football is fantastic. You feel like you’re part of a family in a sense and you win together and you lose together. It’s a rewarding sport and pushes me harder than any other sport I’ve tried. I see women’s football evolving into more towards the men’s league with more teams, skill development and more teams at an elite level.

2. How long have you been playing?

This year will be my fourth year playing football. I started in the juniors in 2014 and transitioned into the Senior Women’s side in 2015 for Seaford Tigerettes with the possibility of getting selected for the VFL Women’s League. I play centre half forward, wing, centre half back and ruck.

3. Your training methods (inside and outside of PARC)?

Training methods is a lot of running. 2 minutes running x 6 with 1 minute break twice a week (which I cover 400m each block roughly) followed by another run during the week and two weights sessions at PARC which include chin ups, squats, abs sessions, etc in the week as well as a hydro recovery session to help the recovery process. I am currently completing personal training with Jayden to focus on some sport specific conditioning and development.

4. What would you say to any girls wanting to play football?

It is so possible now to get into girls football as there is so many teams and clubs with competitions in every league. It’s great to see it now being promoted through AFL and televised so there are many role models to look up to.

Did you know Dry Needling/Accupuncture is available from the Compass Allied Health team, located in our Allied Health Suites

Dry needling is a technique where a very fine needle is gently inserted into tight or painful muscles to release “knots” (trigger points). These tight spots can cause pain, stiffness, and reduced movement.

The goal? It help muscles relax, move better, and feel less painful.

Who can benefit?
• Athletes & active people
• Anyone with tight or stiff muscles
• Desk-related neck or back pain
• Headaches, sciatica, jaw pain (TMJ), or joint issues

Curious if dry needling is right for you? Get in touch with Compass Allied Health to book an initial consult with Jack (Giac).
⭐️ Swimming for a cause: Meet Clinton Hosie ⭐️

This February, PARC Aquatic Access member Clinton Hosie is taking on a new challenge - swimming 14km to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation as part of their Super Swim.

Every minute of every day, a child in Australia is admitted to hospital. Clinton is diving in to help bring joy, laughter, and comfort to sick kids when they need it most.

We love seeing you at PARC putting in the laps, Clinton - your dedication in and out of the pool is inspiring.

Good luck, have fun, and thank you for swimming for such an important cause!
