Feel the difference with 30-20-2

30-20-2 is a simple way to remember the right amount of regular activity which is recommended for better health.

Here’s how it works:

  • 30 minutes daily of moderate activity OR
  • 20 minutes daily of vigorous activity AND
  • 2 days per week incorporating muscle strengthening activities.

Meeting your weekly activity goals doesn’t just improve your fitness, it changes how you feel, think, and connect with the world around you. Here’s what regularly moving with 30-20-2 can do for you.

Physical health

Regular movement is one of the best things you can do for your body. It strengthens your heart, helps build bone density, boosts your energy levels, and reduces the risk of certain diseases and conditions, including type 2 diabetes.

Supports your mental wellbeing

Activity is just as good for your mind as it is for your body. It reduces stress and anxiety, supports better quality sleep, improves your ability to manage stress, and helps you stay focused throughout the day.

Strengthens your social connection

When movement becomes social through a gym buddy, a walking group, or a local sports club, the benefits go even further. Being active with others provides more opportunities to build new friendships, strengthens existing relationships through shared experiences, and reduces feelings of loneliness and isolation.

When your body and mind feel better, the change can be felt in everyday moments.

  1. “I have enough energy to play with my kids”

  2. “I have a clear mind and I can focus better”

  3. “I have more confidence to challenge myself and do something new”

  4. “I enjoy working out with my buddy”

30-20-2 is a flexible way to improve your overall wellbeing. Our friendly team is here to support you in your goals, and help you achieve your 30-20-2. If you would like some inspiration on how you can get your 30-20-2 at PARC, our blog post here has some great ideas.

Have you heard of Habit Stacking? 🤔

It's a great way to add movement into your day by pairing small exercises with habits you already do - helping you be active and achieve 30-20-2, even when life is busy!

You can incorporate simple exercises into your daily task, such as:
- Squats while the kettle boils - turn waiting time into movement time.
- Calf raises while brushing your teeth - two minutes of strength, twice a day.
- Lunges down the hallway - every trip becomes a mini workout.
- Marching on the spot while folding laundry- complete some of your vigorous or moderate exercise every trip.
- Glute squeezes while sitting at your desk - perfect for busy workdays.

Remember, all movement counts 🙌
