There has been an increase in the number of cryptosporidiosis (crypto/diarrhea) cases in Victoria over the recent months. Some cases have become infected after using public swimming pools and public health investigations have found people are attending pools while they are infectious.
In order to keep our members and patrons safe, we ask that you help prevent the spread of crypto with the following steps:
- Do not swim if you have diarrhoea.
- Do not swim if you have had cryptosporidiosis in the past 14 days. If you have been diagnosed with crypto infection, you must not swim until 14 days have passed from the time your symptoms ended.
- Always shower and wash thoroughly with soap before you swim.
- Always wash your hands with soap after going to the toilet or changing a nappy.
- Change nappies in nappy change areas only.
- Avoid swallowing pool water.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe.
